To say that “The City” had a successful 2025 would be without doubt an understatement.
The show at the end of August received a fabulous entry, “on Par” with 2024, which in today’s climate is quite remarkable. The show has now settled into it’s new layout with the additional show hall giving generous space for exhibitors and Trade Stands alike.
2025 saw us hold Eye Testing for the first time at the show, which will be continued on ALL days in 2026. Christina Chapman ran very successful Educational Seminars on each day of the show, including a “Have a Go” show for newcomers to the world of Pedigree Dog showing, these seminars will continue into 2026 also.
We were delighted to host 27 Partnership Shows, including Championship Shows and Open Shows alike. It may seem to many exhibitors that the hosting of “Partnership” Shows in conjunction with General Championship Shows is a recent initiative, in fact, as far back as 2009, 16 years ago, “The City” agreed to Showcase minority breeds by hosting Breed Shows alongside the Championship Show. These shows in those early years were held in The Kennel Club Building, nine clubs attended in that first year. It is remarkable to note that The British Bolognese Club, The Bracco Italiano Society and The Spanish Water Dog Club continue to hold their shows at The City.
The ”Buzz” around the show this year was unsurprisingly the prize draw, with the fabulous prize of a trip to New York and Westminster 150th Anniversary show in February 2026. This was won by Jane Edwards and Shauna Fryer, Westie exhibitors. Jane was in shock when she was informed about the win.
Such was the success of the draw were able to present a cheque for £1000 to The Birmingham Dogs Home, who do such sterling work in and around Birmingham, re-homing Dogs that fall on hard times.
Following on from the success of the show a draw will be held at LKA on Sunday, the winning exhibitor will receive a “Christmas Hamper” in grateful thanks for supporting the Association.
What then will 2026 bring !!!!!!.
